This example was made in my sketch book on watercolour paper. I have used a glaze to let the paint open a longer time. I took away the glaze to create clouds. They are looking very soft. The natural sponge was the better tool for it. The glazing layer was drying fast.
This canvas was made on a glaze first layer without using Gesso. To take away paint on a canvas was easier than on watercolour paper. On the second and third layer were added titanium white acrylic paint to form the clouds. I have used a small bristle fan for the clouds. Cumulous clouds are straight at the bottom – I have straighten with a synthetic 3″ brush. It looks more Stratus clouds:)
Clouds with flowers – using zinc white for mixing and titanium white for highlights
